The Charterhouse is an almshouse with residents aged 60 and over, and a heritage site; our historic buildings dating back to medieval and Tudor times are now home to a vibrant contemporary community.
The museum display, shop and Chapel are free to visit during opening hours, and visitors can book onto guided tours to see more of our historic buildings and rooms.
We are open 10:30am to 4:30pm, Tuesday – Saturday.
Two tours run daily at 11:00am and at 2:15pm.

Our visitor entrance is on the north side of Charterhouse Square, opposite Charterhouse street and Carthusian street.
The nearest stations are Barbican and Farringdon, and if using the Elizabeth line take the Barbican exit at Farringdon. Buses 4, 56, and 153 stop in front of Barbican station on Aldersgate Street.
(Malmaison Hotel EC1M 6AH is next door to the Gatehouse entrance).
